I’m still coming to terms with the fact you have graduated to Heaven. You are already greatly missed. I have many fond memories of my time spent on Vancouver Island with you and Grandpa. My two older sisters and I would spend a couple weeks each summer in Ladysmith in their beautiful home overlooking the ocean. Nana would go out of her way to take us on adventures, whether it be walks on the beach collecting shells, picnics by Fuller Lake, taking us to butterfly gardens, plays, train rides, mini golf, and so much more. I couldn’t have asked for a better Nana. I’m going to miss visiting you and our chats on the phone. You encouraged me to enjoy life and to always make time for fun. Christmas won’t  be the same without you. You spoiled your grandchildren and great grandchildren and we could always count on you sporting the most festive earrings. You lived a full life and inspire me to do the same. I believe my love for gardening and flowers came from you and the many hours I spent in your gardens as well as my own. I am privileged to have shared our first names. May you rest in peace. I find comfort in knowing you and Grandpa have been reunited together again. I love you, Nana. You’ll remain in my heart forever. 

It's hard to believe Mom has died. I have so many great memories growing up of Mom and how she was there for me all the time. As a result of our RCAF life, we move a lot. Within days Mom would have made new friends and got involved in the community as if our family had always been there. Mom taught me how to ride a bike that she had won in a contest. As a city girl who didn't know how to swim or go camping, she made sure that our family all did plenty of that. When I would get in trouble at school, which was often, she always stood by me. She taught me the importance of being responsible, working hard and paying your own way. Mom taught me how to cook; she was always there on the phone to help me with an old or a new recipe. This was important because she never thought I would get married. Mom loved it when we got together with your sisters in the whole family. When my sister was born, I can remember Mom explaining how that happened; that's how I sort of learned about the birds and the bees. Thanks for everything, Mom. I will miss you. Love, Tom.

My dear auntie Allie,
It is such a sad time for your family and your extended family, when the time comes to say our final goodbye.  I hope you are at peace right now and with our beloved uncle Charlie. 
Thank you for sending me a Birthday Card every year of my life. You never forgot.
Thank you and your younger sisters for entertaining the family and being the party girls.
Thank you for the time I spent with you in Ladysmith. You showed me all the sights and ordered in fresh caught shrimp for dinner. You took me down to the seaside and we collected Silver Dollar shells. When you break them open, you find a little angel. I still have one packed away with my treasures. You walked me through the forest and I was amazed at the pine cones and the size of the leaves on the trees. So much so, we took some home and you pressed them in between wax paper so I could take them home to Ontario and show everyone. I think I was in mid twenties, but felt like a kid again! The customs officer searched my bags and couldn’t believe what I was hauling home. It was fun. Thanks you for this memory.
You introduced me to Hydrangea plants and I have a bush and tree in my garden. I think of you each time they come into bloom.
Please tell Uncle Charlie that I still remember the words to the song “Curley Malloy” -  the song  he taught me when I was a wee one.  I don’t remember any nursery rhymes, but funny how  I do remember this. I am not sure what a ‘doodily do’ is, never got up the nerve to ask either of you!   
Memories… always with as, as you will be Auntie Allie. Will think of you often and never forget. Love you bunches. Until we meet again, Barb and Larry.


Allie, I am glad I got to talk to you recently, and I hope you understand why I could not travel the distance to visit you in person. Even though, at 93 you said I was the younger one! We had a wonderful childhood – you dear Allie, Joyce and I. We raised our families and we stayed very close throughout our lives. I know the three of us will dance together once again. Love you sister, love you forever. Helen.

Mum loved gardens and with their first home purchase in Durham, Ontario in 1973 she and Dad put in a huge, beautiful garden. This photo was taken in Ottawa, that's me with Mum. Mum  was the President of the Durham Horticultural Society and loved every minute of it.  Volunteering was very important to Mum, as well as the Hort Society she was an active  member of the IODE, volunteered at Hospitals in her communities and worked with the Welcome Wagon in Ottawa.
