Leier, Kevin Kenneth— Kevin Kenneth Leier joined his Lord and Saviour in the early hours of April 25, 2014, in his own personal paradise in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, surrounded by his wife and many friends. He was 51 years old. Like his favourite cake, Kevin was born in the Black Forrest of Germany in Zweibrücken on February 10, 1963, where he lived briefly before being moved to Cold Lake, Alberta. He played hockey throughout his teenage years in Vernon, B.C. before leaving for Yellowknife at age 18. He would return to B.C. for knee surgery before meeting and marrying his wife on October 13, 1990. He graduated from OUC in 1993 with a “distinguished” diploma in business. The self-proclaimed "Colonel", although son of a military man, not one himself, simply loved Mr. Sander’s chicken and coincidentally resembled his features. Often changing ranks, the “Captain” adored far more his wife, Sandra and two sons, Josh and Kyle. He is survived by not only the three but also along with his mother, Ollie; brother, Dale (Ruth); and sister, Bren (Wayne). His late father, Arthur, predeceases him. Together with numerous nieces and nephews, his in-laws, the Egertons, will dearly miss Kevin. Kevin was an inventor, a visionary, and a character. He was an entrepreneur, operating a successful business for much of his life. He was an avid reader, often losing himself in the pages of his adventure-filled novels. He loved to golf and was unbeatable at pool. Never finding any disappointment in his loved ones, it was another love, which caused much angst nearing the end of his life. He attributed much of his deteriorating health to the disappointment suffered at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and he was vocal about it. Please, come remember the witty, uninhibited, loving character that was Kevin Leier by attending a Celebration of his Life at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 1 p.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph.
