It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joseph Greer on November 2, 2023 at the age of 81 surrounded by his family at Guelph General Hospital.
Loving husband to Virginia for 61 years. Devoted father to Joseph Jr. (Laurie), Mike (Candice), and to the late Stephen Greer. Proud grandfather to T.J, Kyle, Jamie, and Kelsey. Treasured great grandfather to Camden. Cherished brother to the late Alice, Hanna and Phyllis. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Florence Greer. He will be missed by all his friends and extended family.
Joe emigrated from Belfast, Northern Ireland to Canada in 1964 with his wife Virginia. He went through night school to get his apprenticeship as a Tool and Die maker. He worked hard to hone his skills and trade, eventually opening his own Tool and Die business, Taylor Jamieson Machining. TJM was a family run business for 25 years until his retirement in 2004.
Joe was an avid boater/fisher, and loved spending time with friends and family up in Owen Sound with Virginia. He always loved being with family and cherished the times when they would gather for the holidays or special events.
Joe will be missed by all.
The Greer family would like to send a special thanks to the staff and nurses of Guelph General Hospital (4 East), who took great care of Joe during his time at the hospital. They showed great compassion and care towards him and the family during his last few months.
