PROUD, John Douglas: Died peacefully February 4th from respiratory failure at Hospice Wellington in Guelph, Ontario in his 86th year. Beloved husband for 48 years of Nancy Jane Proud (Eadie) who died in 2000. John then fell in love with Dorothy (Do) Fraser-Proud. They were married for 8 years. Brother of Alan and predeceased by brother Norman and daughter Janice Rafter. Proud father of Cathy (Rob) Hurst, Rob (Debbie) Proud, Carol Imhoff, Barbara (Johnny) Levitt and Marg (Wrae) Hill. Papa was adored by his grandchildren Todd (Laura) and Scott (Becky) Hurst, Jenny and Brian Rafter, Katie, Sarah and Megan Proud, Trevor and Tyler Imhoff, Kyle, Jared and Devon Levitt, Alex and Kylie Hill and great grandchildren Miles and Ella Hurst. Papa John, as he was known to the Fraser clan, will be missed by Jimmy, Michael and John Fraser, Gordon, Susan, Connor and Michaela Fraser and Jane, Greg, J.J. and Sam Goodison. John Proud graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Meds 53. He interned as an OB-GYN in Hamilton and Cleveland. John set up his medical practice in his hometown of Guelph, Ontario where, over 3 decades, he delivered more than 65-hundred babies and cared for their mothers. He loved the Muskoka family cottage on Penlake. John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed golfing, skiing and canoeing. He travelled extensively across North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Friends and family may call at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, Ontario on Friday February 8th from 3 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday February 9th at 1 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined.
