Passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2021 in his 51st year. He is survived by his sisters Judy (Kornel) and Kelly Murray (George Zakem). Missing their Uncle John are his nephews Evan and Reid Zakem and nieces Kennedy and Kate Zakem. Also dearly missed by his dear friend Janet Gould who was by John's side. Predeceased by his parents Dr. Joseph Murray, his mother Olga (Kuchma) and his brother Joseph Jr. (Joey) and his grandparents, Gilbert Murray and Rose (Flanagan) and Irma (Massey) and Alexander Kuchma.
John was born at St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario on June 26, 1970 and shared his birthday with his sister Kelly. John was a compassionate person who always sought out people that needed assistance whether it be the nurses and staff on the wards of St. Joseph Hospital where he worked for many years or people that had broken down on the side of the road. John would always stop to lend his help. John was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and collected memorabilia of his beloved team, which even included a seat from the Montreal Forum. John also had a passion for cars and in particular the VW. He spent many hours restoring his "vintage" VW. We will miss John's booming laugh and his hearty back slaps. Huge thanks to Dr. Hood for the care and support he provided to John over the years and the friendship with the Murray family.
There will be a funeral mass on Tuesday, August 31st at 2 p.m. at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28 Norfolk Street, Guelph with the burial to follow at Marymount Cemetery where John will be laid to rest with his mom and dad. If desired, charitable donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation. Donations and condolences can be made on www.gilbertmacintryeandson.com.
