Henrika Gerarda (Hendriks) Reijnen in her 94th year, was the beloved wife of the late Mr. Joseph W. Reijnen (1994). She was the dear mother of Annette and her husband Maurice LeBlanc, John Reijnen and Mary-Ann and her husband Greg Law. Henrika was the proud grandmother of Nicole (Mark), Nathalie (Randy), Kimberly, Klare, Michael and Jessica (Steve) and great-grandmother of Elliott, Kayla, Sydney, Isabelle, Bruce and Henry.
Born in Holland, Henrika was one of 17 children. The Hendriks family was a big family of love and laughter. She will be dearly missed by her remaining sister, Julia and her brothers Wim and Frans as well as her many nieces and nephews both in Holland and here in Canada.
Henrika married Joe and emigrated to Canada as newlyweds along with Henrika’s brother Antoon. They quickly connected with other Dutch immigrants, and formed a close-knit group of friends, fondly known as the “Dutchies”.
Henrika was an active member of the Catholic Women’s Legion and the Dutch Canadian Legion for many years. She loved to knit, and she blessed many with her beautiful talent. Henrika was a social butterfly and loved to meet new people. She was often seen chatting with her many friends at the Ellington.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Ellington Retirement Home who took such good care of Henrika for the last 11 years. She and the staff shared laughs on many occasions.
The family would also like to thank the nurses and doctors at Guelph General Hospital for their sympathetic care during her last days.
