Predeceased by his wife Annunziata “Nancy” whom he was happily married to for 57 years until her passing last year. Dedicated father to Carla (Rob) and Antonio (Nancy) and proud nonno to April, Josephine and Valerie. He will be sadly missed by his surviving older sister Adele, brother-in-law Ugo (Emilia), sister-in-law Giuliana (Garry), as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by several brothers, sisters and their spouses from both Italy and Canada.
Joe was an avid fisherman, and he loved to be outside. He was often cutting the grass, tending to his vegetable garden or clearing his driveway, which was spotless all year long! He enjoyed his neighbourhood walks, whistling along, rain or shine. Not even snow or ice could keep him inside.
Joe and Nancy welcomed everyone into their home. There was always lots of food, espresso, and cookies. Whether you were family, friends, delivering mail or picking up the garbage, he was standing by to share cookies or cake. He also generously handed out Italian candies to whomever he met. His favourite thing was spending time at home with his family, telling stories of his childhood in Italy.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 15 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N. A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, April 16 at 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish, 45 Victoria St. N., followed by entombment at Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum at Marymount Cemetery.
