Lahey, Dale Terrance -- Passed away peacefully, at the Guelph General Hospital, on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Dale was happily married for 52 years to his late wife Peggy. He was the dear father of Neil, Adrian, Karen, and the late Timothy Duncan, and Andrea Elinor. Dale was the beloved grandfather of Tristan, Keely, Justine, and Brendan, and the great-grandfather of Marley. He is survived by one brother, Dan Lahey of Vancouver. Dale will be sadly missed by family and friends. Dale was born in Saskatoon, and spent his early years in Western Canada. While serving in the RCAF, he completed a BA (Honours) degree at the University of British Columbia, and later attained an MA and teaching credentials. He began teaching at Ernestown in Frontenac County. He later taught at Erin DHS before spending most of his career at Guelph CVI until retirement. Dale then did much travelling with Peggy. He began to research in depth both his and Peggy's families. His genealogical studies of his great-great-great- grandfather, Sir George Simpson led to articles in Families:The Journal of the Ontario Genealogical Society and the recent publication of George Simpson: Blaze of Glory. He was nearing completion of a biography of Edward Johnson, Guelph's Internationally famous tenor. Dale also did much research as a member of the Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants. Private Cremation. A Memorial Service to celebrate Dale's life will be held at Eden Mills Presbyterian Church , Eden Mills, Ontario on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev.
