It is with utter devastation that we share about the loss of Ashton Jeffrey Kaden Strohm.
Ashton was born on Friday June 10th, 2005, at only 24 weeks weighing 710grams. He came into this world fighting and left the same way on Saturday November 30th, 2024. Ashton passed away peacefully at 1240am surrounded by a room FULL of people who loved and cared for him.
Beloved son of Jeff and Shannon. Best friend and brother to Lachlan. Predeceased by his siblings Hunter, Peanut and Piper. Cherished grandson to Deb and Art Strohm (grandma and Strohmer), and Dianne and Steve Clegg (GiGi and Pops). Loving nephew to Shaun and Andrea Clegg, Amanda Clegg and Kelly Strohm and Matt Fulton.
Ashton was loved and cared for by so many people it would be impossible to name them all. We called it “Team Ashton”.
To all his nurses over the last 19.5 years, his PSWs, his teachers and EAs, special caregivers and friends. Please know that we love you all and you made his life so much brighter by being in it. As well, a thank you to those at the Guelph General emergency and ICU for being so kind to us all in the last hours of his life.
A special thank you to our friends who are family, you all know who you are. Your love over the years to Ashton is one we are so thankful for. Your support and love now is appreciated more than you will ever know. We are the luckiest family to have the most incredible friends!
Ashton was known for his smile, and he brightened any room that he entered. The love he had for life is one that is unmatched. I once had a nurse say that she truly believed he was put on this earth to share his smile with all of those who ever met him.
Ashton loved the outdoors especially being at the cottage riding the pontoon boat. He loved camping and long walks on sidewalks, trails, parking lots and in parking garages. He loved John Denver and Snoop Dogg. Everyone who knows him knows that we had to listen to Johnny on repeat day in and day out. He loved Super Mario Odyssey and it was played for endless hours over and over. We all became pros at getting those moons! Ashton loved watching Americas Got Talent and The Voice. He was constantly showing us to look at Reba and would blow her kisses (his latest favourite woman!). He loved watching dashcam videos of highway driving on mute. Ashton loved rough play, being loud and crazy. He loved long car rides, Niagara Falls SkyWheel and doing things as a family. He loved cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs with every game we watched. He loved the weather especially rain, snow and thunderstorms. Ashton loved Christmas and Santa.
Ashton, our sweet sweet boy, we love you to the moon and back. A piece of us will always be missing until we meet again. We hope you are running around up there with your siblings and all of those who have left before us. We hope your days are filled with love, laughter and fun. We hope you have met John Denver and are singing away forever. Please surround us with your love and give us those signs we so desperately need.
Sleep tight angel.
