Loving daughter to Anna and August. Sister to Wilma, Alfred, late Ruth, late Herta, late Paul, and late Bernhard.
Agnes was born on June 20, 1936, in Lithuania. When her father went off to war, Anna took her seven children and fled their homeland for many years. When they were finally able to return home a loving family called the Tumpas took them in and gave them shelter and food on their table.
August made the decision to leave Lithuania and come to Canada, leaving his loving wife Anna and his seven children behind. They were able to save up the money to come to Canada, arriving at Halifax Harbour, and after 10 days at sea they were all finally reunited. Anges has always talked about how happy she was that they came to Canada, she was so proud to call Canada her home.
After living many years in Hamilton, Agnes and her mum moved to Guelph where they bought a little house and with a lot of hard work, they made it a home.
Although working very hard Agnes made the time to volunteer with many organizations, The Evergreen Centre, St, Joseph's. VON and a thrift store, just to name a few.
Agnes had an organ in her home, and nothing gave her more pleasure than when family or friends would visit and start playing. The sound lifter her heart.
Agnes had many passions. Her garden was her pride and joy, and she enjoyed feeding any and all of God's creatures. She had a love for cooking and spending time in her kitchen preparing meals for family gatherings.
If you had the privilege to meet Agnes your life and soul were made richer in every way. She loved to talk to anyone and everyone. Sometimes a 15-minute conversation turned into hours. Anges was such an easy conversationalist, and great listener.
Agnes was never blessed with any children of her own, but I know that so many people thought of her as a second mom. We also know that Agnes was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, Grosstante and tolle tolle tante. She was also a true friend to all who entered her life.
Agnes, your absence now is a huge void, but we realize that time has come to share you with all your loved ones that have gone before you. You will remain forever in our hearts,
Until we meet again. Ruhe in Frienden meine Wunderschone Freundin.
"Gott, gib ihnen ewige Ruhe, und lass ewiges licht auf Sie Scheinen"
