He was born October 9, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas to Howard and Louise Travis.
Larry was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He went on to earn his Master’s Degree in 1960 from Texas A&M University, graduating with highest honors.
He was a retired engineer from the United States Government, State Department with most of his work done overseas.
Larry was of the Church of Christ faith and member of Southwest Louisiana Texas A & M Club.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Burks and his brother, Howard Travis, Jr.
Larry is survived by his son, Larry G. Travis, II of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Teri Lambeth of Shawnee, OK; step-son, Trent Bush of Conroe, TX; step-daughters, Cindy Walker of Fannett, TX, Phyllis Hawkins of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Jaxon Travis of Oklahoma City, OK, Darci Lambeth and Chloe Rachelle Lambeth both of Shawnee, OK; aunt, Louise Travis of Austin, TX; cousins, Gene E. Jones, M.D. and wife, Anna Frances of Groves, Shirley Stokes of Port Arthur, Skipper Travis of Wisconsin, Bobby Travis of Miami, FL, Carol Travis of Clearwater, FL, Charles Travis of Austin, TX; nephews, Hal Travis of Tyler, TX Tommy Burks of Spring, TX; nieces, Shelley Owens of Little Rock, AR, Holly Williams of Canyon Lake, TX, and Kathleen Burks of San Marcos, TX.
