Hollie was born September 3, 1945 In Port Arthur, Texas. Hollie was a 1963 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. Hollie attended Beaumont Community College, worked for Texaco, Houston National Bank and Century Development Corporation and then founded The Talman Group with her husband Pete in 1981. Hollie was a talented artist, loved water-skiing, taught surfing, and taught her kids how to snow ski. Hollie's true gift in life was her willingness to give of herself to others. Hollie helped many individuals over the years, not on a one-time basis but repeatedly, and most of those individuals remained in contact with her until her passing. For fourteen years beginning in 1981 Hollie organized a massive Christmas drive for the former Allen Parkway Village public housing project outside downtown Houston. Her family, supported by her Questors Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church in Sugar Land, TX, and by her Sugar Land neighbors, annually delivered Christmas meals and thousands of Christmas presents to all of the residents and their families.
Hollie gave in to her eleven-year battle with Alzheimers, due to complications, on January 13, 2013. She will be remembered for her boundless love for others, for her unselfishness and for the grace she showed to all throughout her life. Hollie didn't just touch people in need with her love; she reached down and grabbed them. Hollie Talman was a beautiful woman both inside and out, and will be missed by her family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with burial to follow at Faith Chapel, Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway Groves, Texas.
