He was a 1965 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School and served in the Army National Guard Reserves for 6 years. He was the Pastor of The True Vine Missionary Baptist Church for 25 years.
Frank was a devoted husband and father and was well known for his singing and his statement of assurance, “The Lord is Blessing Right Now.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Phillips, Sr. and Hazel Alexander Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; three sons, Darvin Phillips, Jeramy Phillips, and Rev. Jarrod Phillips all of Port Arthur. Two daughters, Tina Cade of Ocean Springs, MS and Courtney Phillips of Port Arthur. “Niece/daughter”, Shalequa Landry and a special niece, Bente’ Phillips; three brothers, Benny Phillips, Michael Phillips, and Grayling Phillips all of Port Arthur; four sisters, Juanita Curtis of Beaumont, Linda Prater, Cynthia Forest and Gwendolyn Lewis all of Port Arthur; four aunts, Evelyn Cormier and Edna Francis both of Port Arthur, Anna Tyler and Kate Lewis both of Charenton, LA; 19 grandchildren, 4 god-children; a host of nieces and nephews, the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church Family and countless friends and co-labors in Christ.
A Memorial Musical will be held Friday, January 24, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Eastern Star Baptist Church, Port Arthur, TX. Homegoing celebration will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, Beaumont, TX. Viewing from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with the service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
