Cynthia Rogers

July 24, 1953 - April 19, 2016

Cynthia Marie Rogers was granted her angel wings on April 19th, 2016. A life-long resident of Port Arthur, TX, she was an active member of the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church and the Women of Works Social Club. Cynthia’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeded the quantity in which one lived.

She is survived by her loving children: Otis Rogers II (Kitina), Xavier Rogers (Cherice), and Pierre Mathis; grandchildren: Otis Rogers III, Ja’Corrie Rogers, Ashley Thanars, Omarion Rogers, and Ivory Rogers; siblings: Deborah Washington, Burks Washington, Jr. (Priscilla), Eunice Hadley (Jerry), Nora Washington, Ursula Manning (Allen), Denise Evans (John), Elva Washington, and Vonita Willard (Ronnie); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, god children, extended family, and friends.

The family extends many blessings and thanks to Lisa Washington, Coretta Williams, and Jackie Jones for being life-long, ever-present friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Burks Sr. and Annie Mae Washington.

A visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Eastern Star Baptist Church in Port Arthur followed by the homegoing service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
