Shelby Jean McCoy

Shelby Jean McCoy, age 86, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born March 9, 1936 to the late Arnvell and Kathryn (Halley) McCoy Sanders. She is also preceded in death by her, husband, John Leo Chapman, son; Jerry M. Chapman, daughter, Debra J. Stump, brothers, Charles L. McCoy, Maurice E. McCoy, her loving companion, Charles “Ace” Linder. Shelby is survived by her daughter, Sharon K. (Bill) Chapman, sister, Carolyn S. “Pat” Schneider, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dear friends, her furry companions, Ms Sassie, Ms Daisy, Ms Heaven. Shelby spent most of her life in Staten Island, New York, New Jersey and then finally to Columbus, OH where she has lived for the past 17 years. She was known as “Mama Jean” by her kids friends who all wanted her as a second mom. Shelby loved to read books, watch old movies, and would create ceramic pieces. Shelby was a retired hairdresser. She was a loving, caring person. A visitation time will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 4-8 pm at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY 4242 Hoover Rd where her funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 10 am with Pastor Stan Kirtlan officiating.
