Ruth M. Bickenheuser

Ruth Margaret (Preuss) Bickenheuser, 95, went home to be with the Lord Thursday December 5, 2024. Born to Susanna Fredericka Lambertus and William Frederick Preuss in Seymour, Indiana, May 15, 1929, she was the 8th of 9 children: the last daughter. She graduated high school in Seymour and attended Ball State University. She married Frederick William Bickenheuser on January 4, 1953. Her only surviving sibling, Elvira Augusta Preuss, 101, Seymour, Indiana, died hours later, 170 miles apart. They walked each other home. She is preceded in death by one son, one son-in-law and her husband. She is survived by 3 of her 4 children and their families: Charles Robert, deceased (Ann Bickenheuser), Sue Ann Tresenrider (Rick, deceased), Jon Carl Bickenheuser, Margaret Lou Bickenheuser (Dan Jeffers); 11 grandchildren: Heidi, Heather, Robert, Paul, Amy, Kristi, Jacob, Zachary, Holly, Katelyn, Katherine, 30 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her ability to work with her hands was passed on to all her children. She was an accomplished seamstress but also loved singing and cooking. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grove City, Ohio and could be found singing in the choir or cooking in the kitchen there. She and her husband collected glassware, mostly Tiffin, and she displayed it in their home, changing the colors each month. They enjoyed traveling together to different glass shows. She loved gathering her family in her home and providing for them. She always wanted to be a mother and housewife and accomplished both, beautifully. A memorial service celebrating Ruth’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3220 Columbus St, Grove City, OH 43123. Pastor Seth Jersild officiating.
