Richard E. "Dick" Kamer, Born March 18, 1944 Died January 28, 2022. He was born in Columbus, Ohio to Edward Kamer and Minnie Marrion Kamer. Dick graduated from West High School. He was a fire fighter for 39 years. First with the Arlington Fire Department and the majority of the years with the Columbus Fire Department. Dick (aka "Kaboom") enjoyed his job and being with his fire department family, especially the guys at station #31. When not at the fire station Dick worked as a stage hand with Local #12 on concerts, some movies and the Ohio State Fair. Dick was in the National Guard. He was married to his wife and best friend JoAnn James Kamer. Dick enjoyed working in the garden and caring for his koi pond. He and JoAnn loved to travel and visit Mexico, the Dutch Islands, Australia and Europe especially Germany. Dick always had a good word for everyone and truly never met a stranger. He attended St Mary Magdalene church. He was a member of the old Maennerchor, The Shamrock Club, The Emerald Society and Unity #4 Firefighters. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his wife JoAnn James Kamer, son Chris and his nephew Jeff. He is survived by his brother Jack (Darrell) Kamer, his son Jeff (Darcy) Kamer and his sister-in-law Judy Welch, neighbors and friends. Dick's family will receive friends 2-5 PM Sunday at Schoedinger Grove City 4242 Hoover Rd (Hoover Rd at Kingston Ave). Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Monday, February 21 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church 473 S. Roys Ave. Rev. Fr. Patrick Toner, celebrant. Entombment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
