Myrna, or, as she was known to her close family, “Mim,” was born on March 11, 1945, in Wellston, Ohio, to Charles and Marion Roberts, and she spent much of her life there before moving to Columbus.
Myrna lived life to its fullest and never missed an opportunity to celebrate special occasions, including all of the royal family’s largest events-fascinators mandatory. And her addiction to fancy headwear emerged each year at Thanksgiving, too, when her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and all present were obliged to don Santa hats for an annual family photo.
If there was one thing she loved more than a good party, it was documenting that party, and she always had her camera-and later, her iphone- ready to snap pictures at every family get-together.
Despite her abysmal sense of direction, Myrna loved hiking and being in nature. Notably, she completed the Angels Landing trail in Zion National Park, a strenuous hike with occasional scrambling and a total elevation change of nearly 1,500 feet. She loved to travel and had visited many public parks during her 78 years, as well as Nashville and Memphis, two of her favorite destinations thanks to her love of music.
A member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, she enjoyed euchre tournaments in Grove City, reading and connecting with her closest friends during monthly book club meetings, and watching movies. Myrna was also an avid gardener and fancied a nice glass of wine, as well as trying new restaurants around town, especially before a night out at the Ohio Theatre.
Her family is comforted by many, many memories and will remember her sense of humor, her laugh, which always came easily, her hugs before you parted ways, and her presence at everything from baseball games to wedding rehearsals-pared with a cute pair of shoes and some jewelry to match.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dennis Roberts. She is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Ned) Kowaleski of Canal Winchester and Tracey (Mark) Wegman of Commercial Point; five grandchildren, Nathan (Amy) Kowaleski of Lithopolis, Nicholas (Molly) Kowaleski of Grove City, Nolan (Olivia) Kowaleski of Galloway, Joshua (Courtney) Wegman of Ashville, and Taylor Wegman of Commercial Point; and five great-grandchildren, Wyatt Edmund Kowaleski, Willa Emery Kowaleski, Elena Jean Kowaleski, Julia Lynn Kowaleski, and Parker William Wegman.
She is also survived by her siblings, Terry (Linda) Roberts, Timothy (Carla) Roberts, and Lori (Brian) Lintala, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
