Johnny graduated from Marion Franklin High School in Columbus, Ohio in 1965 where he especially loved his drama classes. He was an avid bowler and horse trainer. He was a lover of animals, especially for his love of horses and his doggy “Cassie Sue”. Johnny managed Slaters Wallpaper and Paint store in Columbus, Ohio until he retired. After his retirement, Johnny and his wife moved to Seminole, Florida where they attended Oakhurst United Methodist Church. People would describe Johnny as charismatic and the life of every party. His great-nieces, Tiffany and Traci, recall putting on music and every time he would start dancing. He was with his niece, Connie (Bob) Cain, on a boat cruise with a broken arm, and even then, he started dancing away to the music. One of Johnny’s favorite pastimes was visiting with his family, especially going out to eat with them. Johnny was a good hearted person and loved his wife dearly. He said “it doesn’t matter should she not remember me, but I will always take care of her until I’m no longer here.” The last words to her by video was “keep smiling” and “you’re my ‘Honey Bun’”. Their love for one another was evident until his last breath. He loved Jesus and knows all his sins were washed away. He no longer suffers from his longtime illness. He was ready to go home to meet Jesus and embrace his waiting family, especially his mother, sister and son. He was saved by the Grace of God.
Graveside services will be held August 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Reber Hill Cemetery with Celebrant Mark Dettmer officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Schoedinger Grove City.
