James Eric Milner, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, April 12, 2024. He was born January 4, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio to the late John and Annebell (Hammond) Milner. Jim grew up on his family farm in Alexandria, Ohio. He was a 1962 graduate of Northridge South High School, attended Columbus Business University, and earned his Pedorthist certificate from Northwestern University of Pedorthics. Jim followed his Dad’s footsteps into the National Guard for 6 years. He achieved the rank of E5 in the 1st unit of the 235th Air Calvary. He was a licensed private pilot and loved flying single engine planes, especially the Cherokee 140s. He said that he always felt close to God when he was flying. He also enjoyed riding his Kawasaki H2 motorcycle. Jim traveled to all 50 states except Oregon. He enjoyed vacationing in Mexico and loved the time that he spent in Hawaii. Jim was a Past President of the Hilltop and Grove City Kiwanis Clubs, Past Lt. Gov. of Region 10W, Board of Directors for the I-Next Kiwanis Club, Distinguished Secretary award recipient, 50 years of Kiwanis service to children, and an advisor to the Grove City High School Kiwanis Key Club. Jim was known for his service to others and his family was his pride and joy. He held many jobs over the years and they included working for Owens Corning Fiberglass as an inventory analyst, Sears sales, kitchen remodeling and roofing, Glicks Furniture, Sales Manager of his father-in-law’s shoe store, Harry Graham’s Jr. Bootery where he expanded the business after his father-in-law's retirement and changed the name to Milner Family Shoes and Comfort Center. He was an Ohio licensed Pedorthist and owner of Milner Comfort Shoes and Orthotics. Jim had a love for sports and enjoyed watching and playing football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and tennis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Milner and nephew, Scott Siegel. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Sunya Milner; sons, Marty Milner, Brian Milner, and Randy Milner; grandchildren, Joshua Milner, Hailey Milner, Hannah Milner, and Rebecca Milner; sister, Jacquelyn (William) Siegel; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Rd., (HOOVER RD AT KINGSTON AVE), Grove City where funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday. Interment and graveside committal will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Alexandria, Ohio.
