Clark "Sparky" Alvin Parrett, Jr. age 79 of Columbus, passed away suddenly Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was born August 29, 1944 in Columbus OH to the late Clark Alvin, Sr. and Lucille (née Dountz) Parrett. He was given the nickname “Sparky” at an early age and went by that name throughout his life.
Sparky graduated from Grove City High School, Class of 1962 where he played football, baseball, and basketball for the Greyhounds.
He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Oakhurst Country Club for many years. He enjoyed fishing and took his kids fishing in Canada, the Southeast Conservation Club, and small ponds around Grove City. He was a sport fan, especially of the Ohio State Buckeyes and often had more than one television going on game days.
Sparky retired from Ohio Bell, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies after more than 35 years of dedicated service.
Sparky is survived by his children Tony Parrett, Tim (Julie) Parrett, and Amy Parrett. Sparky was the oldest of three boys and is survived by his brothers Gary (Mary) Parrett and Michael (Connie) Parrett; grandchildren Trevor (Corey) Parrett, Lauren Parrett, Grace Parrett, Ava Parrett, and Isabella Parrett.
A special thanks to his friends at VFW Post 4044, as well as his neighbors, for providing companionship and friendship for dad, filling his time with fun and camaraderie, and looking out for him as he went about his routine.
Sparky’s family will receive friends 4-7 PM Thursday, December 7 at Schoedinger Grove City 4242 Hoover RD (HOOVER RD at KINGSTON Ave) where his funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday, December 8. Pastor Brian Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
