Charles Allen Nance, age 82, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday December 19, 2023 at his home and surrounded by family. Charles was born in Columbus to the late Merrill Thomas and Lucille (née Mueller) Nance. Charles was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1960. He was employed by Westinghouse for 22 years and then worked at General Motors for 20 years until he retired. Charles enjoyed watching sports (especially Ohio State football and basketball), fishing, and playing the slots at the casino. Charles was the strong, silent type and worked hard to provide for his family. He was thoughtful and generous, always taking note of what people liked and making sure it was on hand at his home for them to enjoy. He was a wonderful husband, a great dad, and received tremendous joy from his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Charles is also preceded by his sisters Donna Smith and Pat Gressierer. Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn S. Nance; children Shelley (Gary) Brogan, Julie Nance (Rodney Vance) and Thomas (Jennifer) Nance; grandchildren Ashley (Nathan) Anderson, Christopher (Jordan) Brogan, Travis (Amber) Spees, Trevor (Cassie) Spees, Jeffrey “JT” , Jack, Natalie, Robert, and Garrett Nance; great-grandchildren Aidan Murnane, Olivia, Paisley, and Liam Anderson, Jacquelynn and Lyric Brogan, and Sophia Spees. Charles’ family will receive friends 4-7 PM Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Schoedinger Grove City 4242 Hoover Rd (Hoover Rd at Kingston Ave) where his funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, December 27. Pastor Lyndal Black officiating. Interment at Concord Cemetery.
