Carolyn Young Foley, age 80 of Grove City, and a longtime German Village resident passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Carolyn was born in Columbus to the late Herbert J. and Frances (née Sullivan) Brooks. She attended St. Mary’s School in German Village from kindergarten through her high school graduation. Carolyn was the secretary to the treasurer of South-Western City Schools for over 30 years and also worked part-time for Newark Parcel as a bookkeeper. Carolyn had a strong work ethic and worked hard to raise and provide for her children. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she volunteered for bingo as well as helping with bingo at Bishop Ready High School. Carolyn also volunteered at Mt. Carmel Grove City. She was an avid OSU fan who loved music as well as dancing. She had a strong will as well as a strong character. She was “old school” and a classy lady. She loved her faith and her family and always wanted the best for her children and grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by her husband John “Jack” Foley; children Tracey Doctor, Jay (Jenny) Young, and Heather (Paul) Cipriano; grandchildren Nicole (Brady) Monroe, Tyler Von Kaenel, Dominick Cipriano, Colin Young, and Giuliana Cipriano; great-grandchildren Madelyn and Lucas Monroe; siblings Judy Clemens, Daniel (Donna) Brooks, Anne (Daryl) Phillips, and Mark (Mary) Brooks; lifelong friends Carol Grey, Marge (Dave) Smigeleski and Barb Orlos; and many dear nieces and nephews. Carolyn’s family will receive friends 4-8 PM Wednesday, March 8 at Schoedinger Grove City 4242 Hoover RD (HOOVER RD at KINGSTON AVE). Prayer Service 7:30 PM Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday March 9 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3730 Broadway Grove City. Rev. Fr. Michael Watson, celebrant.
