

Thomas J. Twomey was born in Detroit on August 10, 1943 the son of Joseph and Dolores (nee O'Connell) Twomey. He graduated from St. David High School in 1961. Mr. Twomey passed away at St. John Macomb Hospital on February 16, 2017. Tom was a doting grandfather and loved his children and extended family, especially his cousins in California. His daughters described him as a dedicated family man, a fabulous story teller and an all around "character". Mr. Twomey enjoyed playing softball, and did so for 45 years. He enjoyed music and had a huge collection of musical artists that included Blues and Oldies. He loved his soda pop. He had many nick names including "T-Bone", "Big Cat" and "Big T". Tom is survived by his loving daughters Julie Weiss (Dennis) and Linda Twomey, his beloved grandchildren Charles, William, and Margaret. He was the dear brother of Kathleen Ciaramitaro, and Margaret Gatliff. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Dolores Twomey as well as his brothers John and Joseph Twomey. Tom loved Grandma Vaughn and Granddaddy. Tom was the best friend of Doug, Diana and the many individuals whose lives he touched through his thirty-five years in the Alcoholics Anonymous Fellowship, the main focus of his adult life. Visitation for Tom will take place on Monday from 2 until 9 pm with a Rosary recited at 3 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home. 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Tom will lie in state on Tuesday at 9:30 am until time of Mass 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack at Overlake, St. Clair Shores.
