Ted was born to parents Thaddeus & Mary Ann on September 17th, 1943 in Hamtramck, MI. Ted was a very creative and hands-on person. He attended the Center for Creative Studies to perfect his sculpting skills, and went on to work as an industrial sculptor for Chrysler. Shortly after, Ted met and married the love of his life, Donna. Together, they built their family.
Ted was fiercely loyal to his family, he would’ve done anything for them. He was a strict parent, but he meant well. He was a perfectionist in every hobby he picked up, not being able to walk away from a project unless it was perfect. Ted also adored the sun. If it was a nice sunny day, and he had nothing to do, more than likely you would find him and Donna at the Windmill Pointe Park, soaking up the sun; or you would find them on the pier with Ted’s fishing pole in the water. Ted also enjoyed his cars. He had a Barracuda, a Plymouth Fury, but his all-time favorite car was his black Jeep Wrangler with the removable soft top. Ted was a free spirit, and will be greatly missed by so many.
Ted is survived by his cherished wife of 58 years, Donna; loving children, Jeff Sobczak and Sheri (Mark) Rieth; adored Bunca to, Parker, Emmie, and Lexi; dear brother, Terrance (Barbara) Sobczak; and loving nephews, Ter, Mark, and Michael.
A visitation for Ted will be held Monday, February 19, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan 48236, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM.
