Roy graduated from Sioux Rapids Community School in Iowa in 1967. After a couple of years at the University of Iowa, he entered the US Army and served two tours in Vietnam. When he completed his service, he achieved his bachelor’s degree in data processing from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. Roy met his wife Linda in Southern California, living there for a few years before moving to Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan where they would work and raise their two daughters.
Roy worked in computer programming for 30 years before ending his career and retiring from Ford Motor Company. He dedicated his time to raising his two daughters and volunteering at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Roy was an avid golfer and shared many memories with his friends on the course. Aside from his family, friends, and faith, one of his greatest honors in life was serving his country and keeping close contact with his fellow veterans.
Roy will be remembered by family, friends, and fellow veterans for his generosity, sense of humor and the many ways in which he earned the nickname, Dealmaster.
Roy is survived by his wife Linda (nee Perfili); his beloved daughters, Dana Koeppe and Lauren Koeppe; sister and brother in-laws Diana and Michael Brunner; brothers Bill (Sheri), Mick (Brenda); and his many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Wounded Warriors Family Support.
