Richard Wayne Hannan, 47, passed away on March 10, 2017. Born on March 26, 1969, in Dearborn, Michigan to parents Richard and Joyce Hannan and joining his older sister, Kelly. He spoke fondly of his childhood in rural Hartland Michigan and remained close with his parents into adulthood. After graduating from Hartland High School in 1987 he continued on to Central Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Never short of wit or a sense of humor, Rick thrived in college becoming the President of the Sigma Chi fraternity and meeting the love of his life, his wife of 20 years and the University's homecoming queen, Heidi. A beautiful, amazing woman with whom he shared two wonderful children, Jack and Zoe. Rick shared a close relationship with his sister Kelly and a close bond with her husband Michael who served as the best man in Rick and Heidi's 1996 wedding as well as a close confidant. Following college, Rick took some time to explore Alaska, Nantucket Island, California and the east and west coasts. The Nantucket excursion sparked a passion for both fishing and sailing that he carried with him into his family life, sailing the family's sailboat 'Tiempo' and teaching his son and daughter the love of both. Not only was Rick a true family man in every sense of the word as a loving and fully devoted father, he had an unparalleled passion for friendships. True and everlasting friendships. A true testament to that is how he maintained friendships with people throughout his life, several starting as far back as kindergarten. While Rick briefly played baseball as a kid, he did not develop a passion for it until his son, Jack, acquired an affinity and love for the sport. By way of pure love and devotion for his son. Though most comfortable assisting with practices and helping where needed Rick agreed to step in as a Little League coach in 2013 to fill a shortage-- he was well regarded by coaches ad parents alike and helped to lead the struggling team to an unexpected championship. Rick had a passion for many things including music, cooking, hiking with his family and fully enjoying what nature has to offer in our national parks. Rick was employed by the Dow Corning Company as a Senior Business Development Specialist for almost 19 years, as a high performing sales executive. This past January, he took on a new challenge with the Techmer Company as an Automotive Business Developer. Rick is survived by his wife, Heidi, his children Jack and Zoe, his parents Richard and Joyce Hannan and Sister Kelly Farrow (Michael). Son-in-law of Gail Dunaway. Brother-in-law of Kevin Dunaway (Michelle) and Rene Schuett (Matt). Also survived by nieces and nephew, Mackenzie, Gage, Kennedy, Teagan, Elle, Maddie, and Reese. Memorial services are planned for Friday, March 24, 2017, 12:30pm at the Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, 16 Lakeshore, Grosse Pointe Farms. Celebration of life in church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jack and Zoe's college fund.
