Peter Paul Morici

Peter P. Morici, age 93, died peacefully on March 13, 2015 at American House in Sterling Heights. He was born on February 23, 1922 in Bessemer, Michigan; the son of Luigi and Cristiana Morici. After high school, Peter was inducted into the US Army Air Corp. He saw action in Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes. He was honorably discharged in September of 1945. He was a member of the VFW Bruce Post in St. Clair Shores. Peter was retired from Chrysler Corp. where he worked as a clay modeler and in supervision. Mr. Morici was very involved in his church and Catholic organizations. He was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Knights of Columbus and served as the Grand Knight; the St. Joan of Arc Usher's Club, The Alhambra Galicia Caravan and the St. Clair Shores Elks. His hobbies included snow skiing, a sport he learned as a young boy in Michigan's copper country; golf, casinos, carpentry and putzing around his garage and house. He restored a 1950 MG sports car and a 32' Chris Craft wood hull cruiser. Peter is survived by his four daughters, Letha Morici, Christina Grethen, Paula Morici and Anna Marie Swineford; two granddaughters, Brittany and Taylor; a great-granddaughter, Brynn and long time companion, Alma Berlenbach. He was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis Jean; and second wife, Mary Elizabeth. Visitation for Mr. Morici will be held from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. A scripture service will begin at 7:00 o'clock Sunday evening. The Alhambra will recite the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. His body will lie instate at St. Joan of Arc Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores from 9:30 a.m. Monday until mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Monsignor G. Michael Bugarin will officiate. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. The family has requested memorials contributions be made for masses.
