Ornella Lucy Bollella, age 93, saw the true light of God on November 5th, 2021. She was born on December 13th, 1927 to the late Vito and Rosalba DeCiantis in Detroit, MI. Ornella was the cherished mother to her one and only daughter Teresa Traverso (Harry Hopkins). She was the adored Nonna to Nicolina (Michael) Dimucci and their children Michael Jr., Gabriella, and Liliana. Ornella was predeceased by her siblings Americo DeCiantis, Helen Zborowski, Edio DeCiantis, and Richard DeCiantis.
Ornella graduated high school and later started a career at Ford Motor Company as a secretary for 20 years.
She loved to read - one of her many talents being able to read 5 books at a time! Ornella appreciated music and the arts. Ornella loved to share her passion for fine china, tea parties, and baking scrumptious desserts with her nieces, granddaughter and great granddaughters. In her spare time, she utilized her talents as being the captain of her bocce team and being a member of the Italian-American Cultural Society.
Ornella was the epitome of a loving, caring, compassionate, smart person who had a love for people and motivation for learning. She had a true love of God and passed that along through the generations of her beautiful family.
Ornella will lie instate at 11:30 AM until the time of the funeral Mass at 12:00 PM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack Ave, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI.
