DeMaria, Mike October 8, 2012 Age 92 Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Doyle). Dear father of Dr. Margaret Smith (Dr. Harold) and Michele Seator (Mike). Loving grandfather of John (Jennifer), Andrew and Matthew Seator. Great-grandfather of four. Brother of Grace Orlando (Tony), Joseph DeMaria (Marilyn), Dominic DeMaria, the late Russell DeMaria and Mary Saputo. Visition Sunday 2-9 pm with Scripture service 7 pm at A. H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods. In state Monday 9:30 am until time of funeral Mass 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores. Proud veteran of WWII. Memorial contributions may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America Mr. and Mrs. DeMaria shared 62 years of marriage until Mary's death in 2009. Mike was a long-time member of the Eastland Mall Milers, walking the mall for many years. An ardent walker, he and Mary participated in the annual Labor Day Mackinaw Bridge Walk over ten times. They would make a weekend outing of the walk; arriving on Sunday, walking on Monday, then would shop and enjoy dinner before driving home. Family and friends looked forward each year to enjoying the vegetables he grew in his garden, especially the tomatoes and zucchini. He was an expert rose gardener. Mike married Mary, who was a nurse, and valued education. He encouraged his daughters to achieve higher education. His daughters took his advice, Margaret receiving a PhD and Michele a Masters Degree. He never met anyone who didn't become a friend. He was indeed loved by all.
