Mike always had a smile for every one! Laughing was one of his blessings he shared with everyone else. 
Bible questions? He was our go to guy!

We first met Mike 12 years ago when we moved in and became next door neighbors. He has been the best neighbor and friend that we could ever ask for. He was so positive, so helpful, and always had a kind word to share. 

     Mike must have been the busiest retired person we ever met, 12 yrs ago. He was very active with his church, he used to always be working in the yard, and going on multiple bike rides and walks every day.  He would often sit on the porch for hours working on his adult Sunday school lessons. 

     He loved his family and had wonderful things to say about his kids and absolutely adored Pat. He cared deeply about others and was offering prayers and encouragement when they were needed most. He taught us what it means to have faith. He taught us what it means to be a true fighter.  We will miss him very much but know he is now resting in peace with the Lord.

I first met Mike when we worked together at the Saline Police Department.  He was fun to work with and was always willing to help anyone.

Mike was my first FTO in 1990, he was a good training officer I remember riding in the Patrol Unit with him.  He was a good man.  He was a very smart man.

Having Mike was such a wonderful blessing. I’ll always remember our talks about the Lord while sitting in my yard watching the bees and looking at the flowers.

Mike was a wonderful neighbor, friend, minister and beekeeping buddy to me. In keeping with the long-standing tradition of "Telling the Bees", Mike's backyard hive was wrapped in a band of black and the bees were told that their keeper had passed. Mike will be sorely missed but fondly remembered. Because Mike was an English major and loved literature, I will close with an excerpt from "Telling the Bees" by John Greenleaf Whittier:

 Before them, under the garden
wall, Forward and back, went..
the chore girl..draping each hive 
with a shard of black.

Trembling, I listened: the summer
Sun had the Chill of snow; For I
knew she was telling the bees of
One Gone on the journey that we all must go!

We lift up prayers and condolences for Mike's family and friends. Mike was a disciple and warrior for Christ, who embraced God and the Holy Spirit. His compassion for helping people was outstanding. He was active in our District's Lay Servant Ministry as an instructor. Mike always had time to talk with people. He will be missed, but his memory will be with us forever.
