Michael Kenneth Walters passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023 at the age of 79. He was born on May 2, 1944 in Detroit; son of William and Gertrude (nee VanHoof) Walters. Michael served as a policeman in Saline, Michigan and later became a detective for the Washtenaw County Sheriff Department. In addition he was a certified polygraph examiner. Later in life he was a park ranger for the Huron-Clinton Metroparks. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and a devout member of Redeemer United Methodist Church in Harper Woods (where he taught adult Sunday School and eventually led sermons at church). He will be remembered for his engaging personality, quick wit and clean sense of humor. Michael was very handy and would tinker around his house. Of all of his interests and hobbies his biggest love was his family.
Michael was predeceased by his parents and sister Sherry Pinsonneault. He leaves behind his loving life partner Patricia Beason. He was proud of his children Ken Walters, Linda (Chris) Marsh, Bill (Michelle) Walters, Adam Walters, and Courtney Walters. He adored his grandchildren Jessica (Zachary) Ellifritz, Leah (Kyle) Selvey, Sarah (fiancé, John Grayson) Marsh, Annabell, and Lila, and his great-grandchildren Rylie, Anna and Maylee.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 12 at 11:00 am at Redeemer United Methodist Church, 20571 Vernier Rd, Harper Woods. His family will receive guests at 10:00 am at the Church.
