With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary L. Piontek on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the age of 99. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Born to Clarence and Antoinette Voiland, Mary was the second youngest of five siblings. From an early age, she embraced life with resilience, an open heart, and never would shy away from new experiences or challenges. She married the love of her life, Donald, on July 11, 1964 with whom she shared 24 wonderful years. Together, they raised two beloved children, Lisa and David. Through every season of their lives, Mary was a devoted wife, caring for Donald with unwavering love and dedication until his passing in 1988.
Mary had a passion for travel, a love that first took root when she won a trip to Paris through a furniture store raffle. From that moment on, she embraced every opportunity to explore the world, often traveling with her church group. Mary also had an impeccable sense of style—always well-dressed, perfectly groomed, and manicured. Shopping for clothes was her favorite way to spend an afternoon.
Mary had a green thumb and took great pride in her garden. She could start any plant from seed and save any wilted plant that her daughter brought her.
Above all else, Mary’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She celebrated each grandchild’s achievements with pride, whether in sports, the arts, or any pursuit they loved. Her love was unwavering, and her support constant.
Even in her later years, as she moved into assisted living, Mary’s social spirit only flourished. She found joy in bingo, making new friends, and advocating for those around her. Her presence was a source of warmth and companionship, and she continued to uplift those in her community with her kindness and strength.
Mary’s life was a beautiful testament to love, perseverance, and the joy of embracing each moment. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she touched.
Rest in peace, Mary. Your love, laughter, and unwavering spirit will remain with us always.
Mary was welcomed into Heaven by her adored husband, Donald Piontek; loving siblings, Jean (Joseph) Fox, Jim (Jennie)Voiland, Frank (Theresa) Voiland, and Buster (Connie) Voiland.
