Marjorie Lois Hartwig, 86, of Harper Woods left this world on November 6, 2022 after suffering with chronic illnesses for a month and a half. Her son and daughter-in-law Nora were by her bedside.
She was born to the late Jean and Frank Sniegocki, September 23, 1936, in Detroit Michigan. A lifelong east-sider, she attended South Eastern High School, but graduated from East Detroit High in 1954. She married Karl Hartwig in 1962 and lived in a modest home on Detroit’s east side. Marge worked full-time at Michigan Bell in a clerical role and waitressed evenings at the Carpet Room Lounge. Retiring from AT&T in 2007 Marge relocated to Harper Woods in 2009. Marjorie is survived by her son Karl, Nora (Greenlee), half-sister Helga Wiebe and dear friend Kathy Chadwick.
Marjorie loved music, crime dramas and reading historical fiction. She will be fondly remembered for her kind spirit, never saying a cruel word about anyone and her generous nature. Marge was a loving mother and friend to many. Celebrate her memory by striking up a conversation with a stranger at the grocery store and feel her spirit within you.
