Laura Nicole Whiteside, age 47 of Warren, passed away with family by her side on September 17, 2018. She was born in Royal Oak on February 9, 1971; the daughter of Larry and Sue (nee Rowan) Robinson. Laura received her Bachelor's of Business Administration from Walsh College, but her real passion was working with kids and helping others. Her longtime and multi-talented volunteer efforts were evident at Siersma Elementary School in Warren. Amongst many things, she was a lunch mom, worked in the library organizing books, helped in the preschool and kindergarten classes and most important in an effort to secure the childrens safety, she initiated and regulated the traffic program. Most important to Laura was family. In her 11 year battle with illness, Laura's family witnessed her stoic strength and beauty. They came together as a unit and weathered the storm. She never complained and was completely selfless. Her instinct to take care of her husband and children always remained intact while at the same time her family was devotedly doing the same. Beloved wife of Darren for nearly 20 years. Theirs is a true love story. Shy Darren first noticed Laura in their Algebra II class at Macomb Community College. He finally worked up the nerve to ask her out in Calculus, their second class together the following semester. After a movie and a simple burger, their love for each other began to bloom and grow. And so did their family. Loving mother of Aubrey and Scott Whiteside. Cherished daughter of Larry and Sue Robinson. Dear sister of Kevin (Amy) Robinson. Caring aunt of Kyle and Dana Robinson. Dearest friend of Brenda Degele, Stephanie Matthews, Debbie Kessler and many others. Laura's family will receive friends on Saturday, September 22nd from 2:00 PM until time of service 7:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13-1/2 Mile), Warren.
