Kathy Harrington

Kathy Harrington, born on March 10th, 1955 passed away on September 4th, after a long battle to Muscular Dystrophy. She spent her life giving to others as much as she could, and loved every moment for each persons smile. Early on in life, she was a vibrant and eager to learn woman that enjoyed her own grandmothers homemade fashions. She grew up into an amazing young woman that then joined the Marine Corps, where she was said to be just as feisty. Thereafter she had married, and had children in addition to her children from marriage; Kelli(Hoggard), Amy(Bertolino), Joshua(Darrow). Later on, she lead a new path in life and attended Macomb Community College and University of Detroit Mercy, where she had graduated with honors in English Literature. It was around this time that she was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy, something that would make her decline and suffer greatly through the years, yet still able to crack a smile or joke to those she loved. She became an editor with Cengage Learning, from which she retired in April 2018. Some of her favorite things included traveling when she could, particularly her trip to London or her numerous excursions to Stratford to watch Shakespeares plays. Out of all of these things, her greatest joys were children. The love and adoration she expressed for her grandchildren; Lynne, Michael, Tyler and Emily and nieces and nephews; Karen, Jeff, Evan, Ethaniel, Mark, Gregory, Jack, Anna, Lily, and Fisher was as deep as the ocean. As you can imagine, she enjoyed many things in her lifetime; Baby, Peeka or George snuggling up close, a new elephant figurine to place on the shelf, watching videos of her nephews performances across sea, and Harry Potter movie marathons on TV, but towards the end of her life the simpler things such as having a cup of coffee with her sister Nancy and putting on a classic movie or her brother Mark sleeping on the floor next to her to comfort her, truly made her nights a special kind of amazing. So much love cannot be told from one womans lifetime, but will always be seen and felt. Survived by many in a large family, predeceased by her mother Diana Isler and best friend David H. Greenspan.
