

Gregory F. Osim, age 71, died suddenly at his home on July 15, 2012. He was born in Detroit on February 13, 1941, the son of George and Virginia Osim. Greg grew up on the eastside and graduated from South Lake High School in St. Clair Shores in 1959. He began selling shoes for the Thom Mcan Shoe Company and then went to Chrysler Corp. where he worked in parts, held clerical positions in Sterling Heights and retired in 2001 working in accounting in the Pentastar Aviation division. Mr. Osim was a golfer and enjoyed watching television. In his lifetime he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, coaching his son's basketball teams, and maintaining aquariums. He was fond of the family cottage near Kalkaska. He was close to his family and enjoyed cooking with his son and a ritual of having dinner out on Friday night. Gregory is survived by his son Jeffrey and his wife Gretchen; his sister Carole Simoncini (Joseph) and his brother, Michael (Sherry). He also leaves his dear friend, Linda McLaughlin. He was predeceased by his wife Christine in 2006. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. A scripture service will begin at 7:00 o'clock. His body will lie instate at St. Basil Catholic Church, 22860 Schroeder, north of Nine Mile Road, in Eastpointe from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning until mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Anthony Sulkowski will officiate. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. The family has suggested memorials contributions be directed to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
