

Longtime Grosse Pointe resident Grace Mary Farnen, 87, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012, peacefully, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Farnen was born September 20, 1925 in Detroit to Carmelo and Dominica Caramagno. She grew up in the Detroit area with her brothers and sisters, Dominic Caramagno, Vincent Caramagno, Joseph Caramagno and Frances Tringali, who predeceased her and Helen Moehlig, who survives her. Throughout her life, Mrs. Farnen was an active member at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Farms. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, swimming and having a good conversation. She will be remembered for her vibrant energy, keen sense of humor and her many stories. Mrs. Farnen was predeceased by her son Christopher Farnen and survived by her children Ryan Farnen (Marilyn), Mark Farnen (Lynda), Mari Ann Farnen and Terrance Farnen (Melissa); her grandchildren David, Kristin, Chad, Jaqueline, Kimberly, Samuel, Adrianna, Joseph and Melissa; and her great-grandchildren Ian and Ella. Visitation will be held, Friday, October 19, 2012 from 4 PM to 9 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe Woods. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on October 20, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit or the American Heart Association Midwest Affiliate.
