George Anthony Schulte, of Grosse Pointe Farms, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2022 at the age of 88. He was born on May 31, 1934 in Detroit; son of George and Mary Magdalen Schulte. George served proudly in the United States Air Force. He attended St. Clare of Montefalco Elementary School in Grosse Pointe Park; St. Bernard High School in Detroit; and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Detroit in Electrical Engineering.
Mr. Schulte retired from Detroit Edison in 1995 after 37 years of faithful employment. He was a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) and RETAP (Retired Engineer Technical Assistance Program). George was a member of the Men’s Club of Star of the Sea Church, Indian Guide and was a Cub Scout Leader. He loved to golf, play tennis, and play the piano. He led an active social life with Carol and their many close friends, but his biggest love in life was spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol; daughters Ann Downey and Nancy Augustitus; sons, Brian Schulte (Nancy) and Mark Schulte (Lisa); grandchildren Matt, Alex, Tyler, Ben and Sara; sister, Mary Schulte and brother, Joe Schulte (Carol). He will be dearly missed by his extended family and many friends. George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Thomas Schulte and Edward Schulte; and son-in-laws Sean Downey and Tom Augustitus.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15th from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. He will lie instate on Saturday, July 16th from 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford, Grosse Pointe Woods. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchin Monastery, 1740 Mt Elliott, Detroit, 48207.
