Donald M. Tipton

Donald M. Tipton, age 91 of Warren, passed away peacefully at St. John Macomb Hospital on April 7, 2015. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 16, 1924; the son of Frederick and Elsie (nee Mueckler) Tipton. Don was the beloved husband of the late Martha Ellen "Chris" (nee Christian). He was the dear father of Timothy Tipton of Denver, CO and Lynn (Michael) Michaud of St. Clair Shores, MI. Dear brother of Richard (Sharon), the late Frederick Jr. (Anne) and Charlotte Tipton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Don was of the Lutheran faith and a World War II Air Force Veteran in the European Theater where he was a Staff Sergeant Gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress. He was awarded the Purple Heart and other medals as a result of his service. He was an Accountant for Chrysler Corporation Marine Division in Marysville, MI and then the Defense Division in Warren, MI which became General Dynamics Land Systems a couple of years before his retirement. Donald and his son, Tim, enjoyed collecting comic books and attended comic conventions around the country. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and dining out with family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A private memorial will take place on a later date.
