Claire Noel Valente Claire, Tinkerbell, Claire Bear, Peanut, Tink. After 19 all too short years. Claire lost her lifelong battle with health and developmental challenges in the early hours of Thursday, September 15, 2016. Those who were lucky enough to have known Claire will always remember her for her broad infectious smile and her loving hugs and kisses. Claire, a life- long resident of Grosse Pointe Park, had just begun her senior year at Grosse Pointe North High, where she couldn't walk the halls without receiving the cheerful greeting of both classmates and staff alike. She was a young woman of slight build but enormous strength and determination, both physically and emotionally. Claire was a person of few words, but those who knew her appreciated the sincerity of her brief expressions. If Claire said it was "NICE" you could be sure it was truly wonderful. One of God's angels on earth, Claire helped bring positive attention to those with special needs in our community. Her involvement with programs like MAKE-A-WISH and ARC helped to brighten many lives. Claire especially loved playing games and snuggling with her big sister Kiera and one of favorite things to do was watch her big, little brother (by 360 days) Dante whenever he played hockey for Grosse Pointe South High. Claire also enjoyed swimming and horseback riding at the Grosse Pointe Hunt Club special needs riders program. She is survived by her parents Lois Valente and Dean Valente. She is the dearest granddaughter of Maria Valente and Marco Valente Jr. along with Helene Hindy and the late Kamal Hindy. She is the great granddaughter of the late Lucia Ballerini. Claire is also survived by her siblings Kiera and Dante Valente. She is the niece of Laura Hindy, Jill (Doug) Thomas, JB Valente, Richard (Dennis Rajda) and the late Mark Valente III (Claudia). Her cousins Kyle and Nathan Thomas survive her. Family will receive friends and visitors Friday September 23rd at 10 am at St Clare of Montefalco Church 1401 Whittier Rd, Grosse Pointe Park until time of memorial service 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a contribution to CLAIRE'S CARE-LAND, a barrier-free, all-accessible, playground to be built for the benefit of special needs children in our community. Directed donations can be made to the Grosse Pointe Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 36366, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan 48236, and noted for Claire's Care-Land
