Arnold Carl Karcher

Arnold Karcher was born in Detroit on December 2, 1927 the son of Ludwig and Marie Karcher. Arnold passed away at Shore Pointe Village on December 11, 2018. Arnold married Pauline and together they raised three children. He was very active at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling with the Eastside Lutheran League, and golf. He loved the theater, especially opera. Taking his family on spontaneous road trips were a favorite thing to do. In his late 70s he discovered the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge walk. Arnold retired from the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. Arnold was the beloved husband of the late Pauline and the dear father of Karen Stewart (Gary), Sharon Goerke (Jeffrey) and Alan Karcher (Deborah). He was the loving and doting grandfather of Shannon, Phillip (Patty), Kerrie (Steven), Matthew, Christina, and Bentley and great-grandfather of Maryn and Cecelia. Services to take place 10:00 am on Saturday December 15th at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Visitation Friday 3-8 pm. The family has requested memorial contributions be directed to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 17100 Chalmers, Detroit, MI 48205 or ALS of Michigan.
