Mr. Cook was born January 16, 1951 in Adel, Georgia to the late Howard Cook and the late Mary Lewis Cook. A graduate of Valdosta State College, he attended First Baptist Church of Griffin and was a member of various service organizations in the community. He was a certified public accountant in Griffin for 35 years, and was a partner in Knight and Cook, CPA’s. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. Paul enjoyed being with his family, especially granddaughters, Kaleigh and Madison.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Gossett Cook of Griffin; daughter, Stacy Whatley and her husband David of Griffin and their children, Kaleigh and Madison; step-mother, Merlene Counts and her husband Audie of Waycross; sister, Linda Brown and her husband William of Pearson; sister-in-law, Carol Hickey of Columbus, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Henry Gossett and his wife Elaine of Lavonia; nephew, Ron Gossett and his wife Cindy of Gainesville and their children, Will and Wesley; niece, Jacki Phillips and her husband Jeff of Springville, New York and their children, Nathan and Katie; and nephew, William Paul Brown and his wife Jenny of Bedford, Texas and their children, Owen and Anna.
Funeral services for Mr. Paul Howard Cook will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Dr. Bruce Morgan will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
