He was born to the late Elvin and Dorothy Burgin Aug. 28th, 1944, in Marysville, CA. Wayne graduated from Yuba City High School in 1962 and attended Yuba College. He married Carol Bryan in 1965, and they lived in California until 1979, when they relocated to Gresham, OR.
Wayne spent the first part of his career in the pest control industry, and owned his own business with his wife before changing career paths in the late 90’s to work at the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office Public Safety Training Center. He had a great interest in firearms and a passion for training people in the safe handling of them.
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He instilled in his children and grandchildren a great appreciation for nature, and spent many hours fishing on the Clackamas River and bow hunting for that elusive elk in the Mt. Hood National Forest. He also loved sports, and weekends were spent cheering for the Seattle Mariners, the Portland Trailblazers, and most of all, his beloved San Francisco 49’ers.
Wayne is survived by his wife Carol, his three children and their spouses: Christina and Steve Robinett, Maria and Nick Cole, Eric and Tonda Burgin, as well as his grandchildren: Nathaniel, Taylor, Christina, Jenna, and Hailey, who will remember his sense of humor and strong love for them all.
We will be remembering Wayne with love and humor on his birthday, Tuesday August 28th from 6-8 pm at the Public Safety Training Center.
