Our father Wang Moua Her was born on October 4th, 1957, in Phwv Huaj, Laos, to Txiaj Yeeb Hawj and Yi Xyooj. He died on February 1, 2019, in Portland, Oregon at the age 62.
Wang Moua is survived by his mother, Yee Xiong; wife Chee Lee; sons Chao (Pa Houa), Fong (Blia), Kong Meng, Tou Zong, and Chi Nu; daughters niam Tou (Mee), niam Lee Houa (Nou), niam Dez (PaSee), Hlee, niam Teng (Pa Ying), and Kalia; 19 grandchildren; sisters Mai Houa, True, Yer, and Mai.
Wang Moua moved to the United States in Dec 1987 with his wife, mother, sister and children. He lived in Eau Claire, WI from 1987 - 1997. Wanting to be closer to relatives, Wang Moua moved his family to St. Paul, MN in 1997. In 1999 after visiting Portland, OR on a family trip and falling in love with this state, Wang decided to move his family once again. He made Portland, OR his home until he died.
Our father Wang cared for his children in the best way he was capable of. He worked hard with both his hands all his life. You will never see him sleeping in or take a day off because he was tired. He provided for his family, so we would never go hungry or live without a home. He taught us that we should not let any day go to waste but to use it wisely. Our father taught us what it means to be a family. He taught and showed us how to be kind, patient, and mostly how we need to love one another.
A father of 11, he was often happiest when he’s tending to his garden, going squirrel hunting, fishing, hiking, or building something from scratch. He was unique and so talented in many ways. He was loved by many and made friends easily. He was a simple man in nature, he did not have much, but he did not need much either.
You are gone too soon. We are going to miss you, dad. Your decency, sincerity, and kind soul will stay with us forever. So, through our tears, let us see the blessings of knowing and loving you – a great and kind father, the best father a son or daughter could have.
