East Portland resident Victor Anthony Powell passed away on June 21. He was 18. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, June 25 at East Hill Foursquare Church (701 N Main Street, Gresham). Private burial will be at Douglass Cemetery in Troutdale.
Victor was born September 4, 1991 in Portland, Oregon to Jeffrey and Jennifer (Beckley) Powell. He had just graduated from Reynolds High School, Class of 2010. Victor worked at Weston Pontiac Parts Department and most recently at the Troutdale Dairy Queen.
Victor was a talented athlete, participating in baseball, track and cross country. He was an avid Beavers and Blazers fan. Victor began playing viola at school when he was very young and continued on through middle and high school. His high school orchestra placed in state this past year. He played The Godfather in a parody play his school put on. Victor loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and hiking. Victor also dedicated much of his time to others; babysitting, volunteering for Reynolds Little League and running in Relay for Life each year. He donated blood whenever he could and upon his death he gave the gift of life to others by donating his organs.
Victor was preceded in death by his grandfather, Herman Powell. He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Jennifer Powell of Portland, OR; brothers, Matthew and Bradley Powell of Portland, OR; girlfriend, Katie Frye of Troutdale, OR; grandparents, David Beckley of Vancouver, WA; Juanita Powell of Portland, OR; and Larry and Diane Hietzman of Gresham, OR.
