Vera Virginia Koosman

Vera Virginia Koosman, 95 of Gresham OR, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013. She was born on April 18, 1918 in Birdsholm, Alberta, Canada to Rudolph and Selma Emma (Winter) Schultz. She graduated from High School in North Dakota and received her Teaching Degree in 1939 from North Dakota Teachers College in Minot. She married Bernard William Koosman on June 10, 1944 in Max, North Dakota and lived in Morris, Minnesota until moving to Portland in 1951. She was an active member for many years at Gethsemane Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and cooking and loved time spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard in 1999 and her siblings Ethyl Petterson, Helmar Schultz and Phyllis Jenneman. Vera is survived by her daughters Sandra Long (David) of Redmond OR and Marjorie Boslaugh (David) of Vancouver WA; son Jeffrey Koosman (Paula) of Hillsboro OR; sister Dolores Schmidt (Martin) of Gresham OR; grandchildren Tracy Long, Kristin Barber, Emily Green, Tobin Boslaugh, Kaitlin Gordichuck and Alex Koosman and six great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Vera’s Life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 11560 SE Market, Portland OR 97216. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Contributions may be sent to the church or to SnowCap, PO Box 160, Fairview OR 97024. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
