Sue Ann King

She was born in Sycamore, Illinois, April 24, 1945, to Villabelle and George Mudra. She completed the family which included her older brother, Dave. The family moved many times as she and Dave grew up, following the father’s career from Chicago to Portland, Oregon, New York area, South Carolina and back to Chicago. She started her studies to be a nurse in Chicago and then followed the family’s move to Clarkston, Washington in 1963. She received her LPN degree from St. Joseph Hospital in Lewiston, Idaho in 1965.

Known to her family as “Suzy” she married Charles B. King September 11, 1965, in Clarkston. After their marriage Sue and Chuck lived and worked in Spokane, Washington. She delighted in buzzing around the area is a Datsun Fairlady red convertible. They later moved to Oregon where she pursued her nursing career.

The couple moved to Boring, Oregon in 1970 and the family delighted in telling people where she lived and announcing it was the best place to get a “Boring” hamburger and a “Boring” education.

Sue had to retire from nursing when she was diagnosed with MS. She filled her time with art lessons and many hours of joy painting still lifes, landscapes, and seascapes.

In 2015 Suzy moved to a care home in Gresham to get more assistance with daily living. Chuck died suddenly December 17, 2017, at home. In 2021 she moved to Homestead Adult Care Home in Damascus where she received great care in a loving environment. Besides the owner and caregivers, she was visited by dear friends on a regular basis and greatly appreciated their friendship and sharing in her faith.

Dave and wife, Sharon, are so grateful to all of the staff at the care home and to the friends that made her final months and days so pleasant. She felt the love and responded in kind. Sue will be missed but after so many years of dealing with MS she was ready to be with her lord. Finally, she is at peace.

She will be cremated and the couple’s ashes will be scattered at some point in the future in the ocean near the Hawaiian Islands, one of their favorite vacation spots. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham is in charge of arrangements.
