Ruth Marie Martin

Ruth Marie (Richards) Martin was born in Bloomington, Illinois on October 26, 1928, youngest of four, one sister and two brothers. In the 1940’s her family moved to Portland, Oregon where she graduated from Grant High School. She attended business school and worked for Shell Oil Company. Ruth was married to Eugene Martin in December of 1965 and became stepmother to his five children, whom she later adopted. Eugene and Ruth started Pacific Dairy Supply in 1967 and she kept the books for the business. She also managed a Shaklee vitamin and supply business well into her 80’s.

Ruth faithfully attended church and loved the Lord. She would quote scripture frequently and one of her favorite lines from a poem was, “One day at a time.” Ruth’s favorite color was yellow, she played piano and organ, enjoyed reading, cooking, and playing games.

Ruth was preceded in death by her mother and father, siblings, husband Eugene, and son Russell. Ruth is survived by son Ronald, daughters Pamela, Patricia, and Paula, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

There will be a public viewing on Saturday, and Sunday, February 26th and 27th at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd., Gresham, Oregon. A private service will be held for the family on February 28th.
