Raeanne was my second cousin, her Mother Katherine (McKee) Peters was my Grandmother Carolyn's younger sister.
Raeanne and I spend many summers together along with my brothers on the Pearson family farm.  She and her Mom, my Aunt Kathy used to come and visit for a couple of weeks at a time when we were kids during the summers.  We used to roam the hills, woods and river bottoms on the East fork of the Lewis river.  Hunting for agates, swimming. watching the great gray herons swooping overhead and following dusty cowpaths on our way to the swimming hole.  She was 3 yrs older than me, so I considered her an older sister since I had only brothers.  I would follow her around as we played on the farm following dirt paths underneath fragrant cedars, bubbling creeks and hayfields.
I remember her funny sense of humor, and she always had a good comeback when teased by anyone.  She always stood up for herself, yet retained a gentle regard for others.
As we both grew to be teens Raeanne, our other cousin Marilyn and I spent some times together hanging out listening to music, being silly girls and generally driving hef Mom to distraction with our giggling.
Later when we were grown,  I will never forget going to the hospital to see Raeanne when her first son Christopher was born, she was such a proud Mother.
Over the ensueing years Raeanne and I didn't see much of one another as she was back in the SE with her family as a Marine wife and mother of Christopher and then Shawn.  I too had a family and work which kept me busy.   Our reunions were few and far between, usually in the form of occasiona family gatherings.   Finally as her family moved back to the NW we were able to get together a little more along with my Mom and other relatives.
I will hold all these precious memories of her within my heart, knowing we will one day be reunited, stroll along the river banks and rejoice in the sun.

RaeAnne was a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile and a kind word fir everyone she met. I remember her first coming to Lynwood Friends and my first reaction before getting to know her well was “what a beautiful, sweet woman”.  After getting to know her I realized I had under estimated her sweetness. She lit up our Sunday School with her dazzling smile and her kind words. She has greatly been missed at Lynwood. She is now resting in the arms of our Lord where she will not have to go through the suffering she did here on earth. 

3 of us went to the beach.  Not even 2 blocks from the house Marlene and Raeanne both in the back seat, started in the "mom are we there yet".  I remember the laughter. They were so proud of being funny.  We made forever memories that day

I remember Raeanne as such a sweet and gentle person.  She was always so willing to serve and care for so many of the people who were in her world.  It was a joy to know her!

I have no doubt that she is in a better place, and for that I'm am extremely grateful!
