Her family moved to Oregon when she was a child, she was the 5th of 6 children. She attended Gresham High School where she met and later married Wilbur Welty on August 7, 1949. Known by their friends as Millie and Willie, they enjoyed years of dancing at various Elks and Eagles, going to the beach, and annual trips to Palm Springs.
Millie was a housewife and took great joy in taking care of her home and family, having weekly Sunday dinners, and making every occasion special. She loved flowers and enjoyed planting them at her home and their beach house.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur, to whom she was married to for 71 years. She is survived by her children, Sandy (Doug) Virnig, Frank (Sun) Welty, Denise (Bill) Lakey, and sister Deanna Boehlke. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on October 8, 2022 at 11am.
